The Space

Fiery Peak Chalet is located set amidst our 12 acres property in Pleasant Valley: a short 10 min drive from Geraldine, or 5 mins off HW 79 (if coming from Tekapo/ Mt Cook). Access off Pleasant Valley Road at 662 onto our property, over a stream and through trees will present you to the chalet with a backdrop of mountains. If we know your arrival time, you will be greeted in the chalet by music, fairy & firelight (if cold or dark). If you wish to book the hot tub, it will be ready & awaiting you (please give us ample notice – a day would be preferred unless last minute booking – as it can take up to 3 hours from filling to heating to 40 deg).
Rural walks on quiet country roads, a telescope for viewing the night sky, or just sit on the deck and watch the clouds drift across the mountains and forget your worries and the world for a night or two, games, puzzles, and books are all provided in the chalet.

Complimentary organic teas and coffee, juice, and milk are provided for your arrival. The chalet is self-catering so please bring your own food supplies for the duration of your stay. Alternatively, pop into Geraldine to stock up for cooking or BBQing. If you like to dine out there are some lovely restaurants & cafes to choose from. Alternatively grab a takeaway: cooked chicken, a selection of salads, bottle of wine from the local supermarket or check out the takeaways available at Royal India, Q Foods, Foodies, Thai or good ole kiwi fish and chips.

Guests say that a clear night sky at Fiery Peak is as rewarding as viewing the dark sky at Tekapo. With the telescope provided, you can check out the stars from the deck or lie out on the grass to take it all in with your eyes.

We have a Weber BBQ for guests to use. It is just gorgeous sitting outside enjoying the evening, cooking, wining and dining with the back-drop of the mountains.

At Fiery Peak you can take your time on your departure day if your schedule allows. Wake up, relax, & enjoy your morning coffee in the hot tub before heading away. Check out anytime until noon.

Accommodation at the chalet is just for adults however if you would like to book with your family or children – please check out the Eco-Cottage.

Use the cottage as a base for exploring in and around South Canterbury
Take a day trip to Peel Forest (Horse treks, bush walks), Lake Tekapo (ice-skating, snow tubing, hot pools), Mt Cook (Hooker Valley, Sealy Tarn walks), Mt Sunday (Lord of the Rings film site), book an evening 2hr tour of the night sky at Geraldine Observatory, OR just relax in the chalet beside the fire with a book and no one to bother you, popping into Geraldine to check out Barker’s new cafe and food store or other restaurants/ Geraldine cheese factory-shop.
